Every year between 15 and 19 March, cities around Valencia and Alicante celebrate the Las Fallas de San Jose, when huge sculptures of paper-mache are displayed around the streets and are burned down on the last day after mid-night. Partying all day and night with music, drinking, eating paella in the street and with the flickering explosions of fireworks in the horizon.
